A white rose for peace
Today we had a special visit from Stuart Robertson, the founder of “Peace in 10.000 hands”, an art and charity project using a white rose as a global symbol for peace. He travels the world, especially to places where poverty and lack of education are common, to „make the invisible visible.“ Stuart photographs people holding a white rose and asks them what peace means to them, collecting powerful personal stories. He told us how peace can mean very different things depending on someone’s background. While we might think of peace as a working society, others simply wish for safety and no war. Stuart has visited many countries, including Papua New Guinea, where he was once robbed on a Highway. Despite facing danger and setbacks, he continues his mission to bring attention to the forgotten communities. One story that stood out was about a village where children needed clothing more than school supplies, showing how urgent their needs truly were. Through these encounters, Stuart learned that the poorest people are often the most generous and joyful. He has already photographed over 4,000 people and raised millions for charity with his company. One of his goals is to raise 100 million dollars for charity to support communities in need.
At the end of the day, we wrote down our own thoughts on peace, took individual portraits with the white rose, and came together for a memorable group photo.
